Guardians of the Cedars - National Lebanese Movement
Commenting on the Egyptian President Moubarak's unforeseen visit to Lebanon, the party of the Guardians of the Cedars-National Lebanese Movement issued the following communiqué:
The Egyptian President's visit to Lebanon was not up to the expectations it raised. President Moubarak was expected to leave Lebanon a champion of Peace, he left instead a supporter of terrorism.
He could have pronounced the same words pronounced by his late predecessor, President Sadat, -may God have mercy upon his soul-: "Hands off Lebanon!", but instead he encouraged those who were holding Lebanon by the throat to tighten their grip.
He could have held Lebanon's hand and led him to the camp of peace he presides, but instead he left him prey to the staunch opponents of peace.
He could have called for the establishment of security and order in Lebanon and put an end to the war of others on his soil, but instead, he departed leaving him a battlefield.
The Lebanese do not wish the decking of the war on their soil, they wish to end it once and for all, as Egypt did.
The Lebanese do not need help in repairing the electricity installations and leaving them open to further destruction; what they do need, is to eliminate the cause of their destruction.
The Lebanese saw President Moubarak enter Lebanon from the Syrian door and leave it from the Iranian door. He gained nothing and Lebanon gained even less!
