Guardians of the Cedars - National Lebanese Movement
Communiqué
The following actions of the new Hariri government are de facto confessions of incompetence, irresponsibility, and submission to Syria:
- The Hariri government promises economic growth and reinforcement of the Lebanese economy, under the shadow of Syrian control of the Lebanese
economic sectors.
- The Hariri government promises respect of human rights, while arbitrary arrests continue of Lebanese asking for the withdrawal of Syrian troops from
Lebanon.
- The Hariri government promises freedom and liberty of speech, yet a member
of the newly elected parliament has been threatened with death by Syrian supporters because he asked to have Syrian-Lebanese relations revised.
- The Hariri government pretends to uphold Lebanon's sovereignty by guaranteeing to support Lebanon's independence and sovereignty, yet Hariri's
government continues to support the economic, military, and political occupation of Lebanon by Syria.
The Guardians of the Cedars consider that the politics of the Hariri government is harmful and will lead to a deterioration of the actual,
precarious situation of "facts on the ground." Only after the Lebanese are "masters of their own home" will economic growth
occur, along with confidence in the Lebanese economy.
Security of Lebanon should be guaranteed by a Lebanese army that is representative of Lebanese unity and not a Lebanese Army that is used as a
tool of repression against the Lebanese population.
The politics of the Hariri government is a continuation of pro-Syrian politics practiced since 1975, having one goal : enslaving Lebanon and its
people.
